The MRI Technologist program is a comprehensive course of study. The structure of this course combines introduction to medical/patient care skills, physics, math, medical terminology, human anatomy, cross sectional anatomy, theory, laboratory, computer skills and a clinical externship consisting of about 1040 hours.

As technology advances, MRI Technologists will be equipped with all of the skills and knowledge needed to stay up to date with rapidly evolving field of medicine. MRI Technologists are expected to see increasing demand as the nation’s population continues to age.

Course Description and Details

MRI Technologist (AAS)

Students receive hands on experience within the classroom environment.
Once coursework is completed, students will work in a practice for 6 months and will gain practical experience in the field.

Length of Program

88 weeks – 2,310 Clock Hours – 81.5 Semester Credit Hours
5 Days per week, Monday to Friday
Morning schedule: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Evening schedule: 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Break: 20 minutes each day.

 

Program Objectives:

Upon completion of the program, the successful student will be able to:

  1. Provide qualified individuals an opportunity to acquire the knowledge, attitude and skills which will enable them to become safe and competent in MRI technology and prepare the graduate for an entry-level position as an MRI technologist.
  2. Sit for the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) National Certification Examination
  3. Also be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
